What is Hot Yoga?

Hot Yoga is a form of yoga performed under hot and humid conditions, resulting in considerable sweating

Why Hot Yoga

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years to improve not just the Physical Body health but as well as Spiritual and Mindfulness. Originally coming from India, Yoga was performed under hot and humid conditions, resulting in considerable sweating. At Hot Yoga Joy of Lake Stevens, we use infrared** heaters and humidifiers to get to desire room temperature, with that we are able to step into old traditions and continue to enjoy the benefits of Yoga in the heat.

** Infrared therapy has many roles for the human body: detoxification, pain relief, reduction of muscle tension, improves circulation, weight loss, boosts immune system, lowers side effects of diabetes and much more.

Yoga Myth #1

from the owner Anya Joy

I have to be flexible to attend a yoga class…. Absolutely not! You will become more flexible by practicing yoga especially in the hot room! Lots of yoga Asanas are designed to improve flexibility. In the beginning you may find out how difficult it is to touch your toes, but this is what yoga helps you to achieve. In fact, I guarantee you, that most of my students are more flexible than me, but I keep practicing and getting better every day! Keep coming back, it’s a wonderful journey!

Yoga Myth #2

I have to know the poses before attending the class…. Our instructors are professionally taught how to cue the poses and make a safe transition with every move. If you are new in practicing Yoga, I would recommend you in the beginning to observe the instructor and students upfront and you will do better with each class! It’s Yoga practice, not Yoga perfect.

Yoga Myth #3

Yoga is not a workout…. Hot Yoga has become a very popular exercise in recent years. With the heat turned up hot yoga has the ability to give your heart, lungs, and muscles an even greater intense workout. Sun Salutations are designed to not just warm up but increase the heat in your body. Every class has a lot of core engagement and a cardio workout. In our Sculpt class we use workout bend and dumbbells to increase muscle work. I encourage you to try Us out!
